Lying in the grass alone and wasted Nothing's how it used to be
I wanna be the first to call and tell you Yesterday I heard the news I hear you oughtta be congratulated So I guess that's what I'll do "HEIDI WEASLEY!" A voice blasted over the music, and Heidi, annoyed, called back down to her mother. "TURN THE MUSIC DOWN!" Her mother replied, and Heidi turned it off. Slipping on white slippers, she also pulled on her white jacket over the black Tinkerbell shirt and blue jeans. Slipping her wand behind her ear, she headed down the stairs with her novel to set up and read it. "Moom.." she called, but found they had left. Heidi, Gone to dinner with your father. See you later. Mom "Lovely."

Don't you just love summers? The sweltering heat, the yellow grass, the bugs... Hailie hated summers herself. She was currently attempting to keep cool while skipping around at her house; in her yard, to be specific. Her parents were gone, her brother was gone, and it was only Hailie left all on her lonesome at home...
Oh, if there were two things she hated more than anything, it was being alone, and the summer. Two things that Hailie hated put in one situation were never fun. What to do in such a crisis situation? The bubble soap she'd bought at that one Muggle store one time or another had now all been used up - and she'd given the little kids next door something to do, as they attempted jumping. However, now the kids were gone, and Hailie was left looking for something to do.
So she ended up here, humming 'Yankee Doodle' to herself and knocking on Heidi's door. She'd been there once or twice, yes, but had never stayed for long. Her parents had always found some way or another to get her out of the Weasleys' house.
"Heidi... you'd better be home," she mumbled, ending up - accidentally, of course - singing it in the tune of the song, and nearly splitting her sides laughing at herself. Yeah. You could laugh at yourself, who knew?

"Bum bum bum bum I'm at the grocery store and there you are just watching me Bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum Pick up my clothes from the cleaners and look who I see Bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum I try to lose you in my car But you won't go away Come on buddy don't you think you've overstayed your stay Don't you have better things to do with your life Then hang around and stare at me and complicate me Your eyes must burn so bad cause you haven't blinked You and me will never be If that's what you think," The doorbell was ringing now, and Heidi rolled her eyes. "If it's not one thing, it's another," she mumbled, walking away from her Muggle music artist, Hilary Duff. "Bum bum bum bum bum bum." Heading to the door, she slipped off her slippers and answered the door barefoot. "Hello- Hailie!" She squealed, pouncing on her friend.
"Ohmygosh. It is so hot today and Mum was like turn your music down Heidi so I did and then she and Dad left so like what was the point of that? And so then I turned a new song on and you rang the doorbell and I was like ohmygosh. So then here you are and here I am!" Heidi said in a very fast voice.

"Heidi!" Hailie squealed, immediately being pounced upon. She giggled for a minute, listening to everything that she said before actually releasing Heidi from her crushing hug, and starting to speak in the same rapid tone that she'd gotten used to being able to use around her bestest of all friends.
"Oh my gosh, really?" she asked. "That must suck. But I guess you did turn it back up." She sighed, dragging it on for a few seconds or so before continuing, now starting to go on about her own summer. "Well, today was so hot and so I had all these soap bubbles and I was blowing them and the little kids next door were trying to pop them and it was fun and all! But now my parents left for a vacation and left me and Michael, and Michael left to go to the Malfoys' place, so here I am."
She squeaked, before starting to continue her incessant rambling. "Ooh! We should totally get soap bubbles! I love bubbles! And grass! But not when it's yellow like it is at my house!" Yes, her lawn was completely dried up, and she'd been walking around outside barefoot, the grass giving her feet rashes.

"Ohmygee, we should! I love popping bubbles and blowing them cause they're so fun! Or we could go swimming and play volleyball or something. And listen to music. Our grass is green though. And I probably have a bathing suit you could borrow!" Heidi rambled on in the incredibly fast tone both of the girls could use and understand at the same time.
"So what do you want to do because I don't know but it's your choice cause it's really hot." Heidi nodded.

Michael sighed. He was now back at his house, looking for his sister. Hailie, he knew, wasn't exactly hard to miss, but at the same time, she didn't seem to be anywhere around. The Malfoys had ended up having to leave for vacation with their parents - for some reason, their parents actually brought the siblings along - and now he was stuck here. Where was his sister?
He walked slowly into their dining room, only to find a note on the table. Hiiii Michael, if you're reading this. Left to go to Heidi's house. Be back laaaater. He rolled his eyes. That was definitely his sister's writing... Now what? He could go find her... or he could Apparate off elsewhere in the hopes that someone else wasn't on vacation. Deciding that he should at least go looking for his sister, he Disapparated.
Luckily, he'd received his Apparition license last year, and his sister had once dragged him to her friends' houses, meaning that he at least wasn't lost. Ah, there they were. Standing in the doorway. Talking in a way that only the two could understand. How could you understand speech that fast?
"Hailie! And, um... what's her name... right. Heidi!"

"Ooh!" Hailie exclaimed, nodding eagerly. "We could totally have this awesome mini-party with just us! And, like, we could have bubbles and swim and play water polo! And blast music! Muggle music because wizarding music sucks!" She nodded several times, in a would-be convincing way, before hearing someone call her name. A familiar voice actually.
"Michael?"
Ugh... he wasn't supposed to actually follow her. The note had only been left there because he might have come back early from wherever he'd been. Apparently, he had. But... he wasn't supposed to actually follow her. "What are you doing here?"
After all, Michael never did get along with most of her friends, besides the fact that he and Hailie were what you'd expect to be the closest of siblings in the world.

"Ohmygee! We could because it would be so fun to have our own party! We could get pizza and everything and then later we could go shopping!" Heidi giggled gleefully. "So I'll go order the pizza." She walked into the house and grabbed the wireless Muggle phone and walked back out, leaving the door open. "So Hailie, do you want pepperoni, cheese, or hambur-"
She stopped and waved, a little bit surprised. "Hello!" She called to the person. "Do you know him?" She could vaguely remember his name. "Isn't he your brother, Michael?" She recalled quickly. "I know him!" She was talking a bit faster now, so normal people could never dicipher her words. "Should we talk slowly or can he talk fast?"

Hailie nodded, watching Heidi walk off into the house and stepping into it herself. It wasn't the first time she'd been in there, but she just loved Heidi's house. It was... just cool. Which, of course, she'd expressed the first time she'd arrived. "We should totally get cheese," she told her, upon hearing the unfinished question.
"What?" she asked, blinking, before realizing that she was talking about Michael. "Oh," she mumbled, gesturing for her brother to come over and answering Heidi's question at the same time. "Well, Michael can't really talk fast but he can listen really easily so I think we'll be okay. Besides, he's used to having to listen to me talking quickly."
She nodded several times once more, glancing from Heidi, to Michael, and back. Awkward moment of silence; she wasn't really sure why however...

"Ohmygosh. I love cheese. We totally should." Heidi assured her friend, abruptly ending the conversation. "Oh, yeah. Yeah, my siblings can't hear me or talk quickly. Dunno why. Mum can do both though, and Dad can catch like every fifth word," she rambled, nervous suddenly, with the sudden silence..
She was glancing from sibling to sibling now, and Heidi realized that she was staring at the siblings. She glances at her bare feet. "So..." she started, then began to talk very quickly. "Do you guys want to come in because I mean we can go swimming or whatever and I ordered the pizza so it should be here soon and I can get lemonade for ya'll or whatever...." she trailed off, waiting for an answer.

"Well, my parents just can't listen, they can talk fast but not listen so they tell me to either shut up or slow down," Hailie told her with a brief nod. "Michael can talk fast but not listen, so you're like, the only person I know that can do both at the same time." Ew... awkward silence... "So yeah. That's why you're like, my bestest and awesomest friend ever."
She glanced from Heidi to Michael, and back, once again several times. "Yeah, that'd be totally awesome!" she agreed, back to her usual grinning self by now. By the look on Michael's face, she could tell that he expected a ramble soon, and he was of course not disappointed as she started babbling.
"So, we could totally like, charm bubbles so that they can come around and we can like, have pizza and totally blast music so that everyone can hear us and stuff! Oh, and then we can push Michael into the pool!" It wouldn't be the first time, of course, that Hailie had done that, and it was honestly quite fun.
Michael hadn't been all too happy, but it had been fun enough for Hailie...

Michael had fallen silent, choosing to instead listen to their conversation. He was more of a quiet person anyways, and it was much too fun listening to Hailie and Heidi babbling away at each other. He realy had no idea what they were saying, not paying /too/ much attention. He was listening, yes, but not really... taking anything in. Processing anything. His mind was currently half-asleep, as the Malfoys had bored him out of his wits. Such a shame. Jason had used to be so interesting too.
However, hearing his name mentioned several times, he raised his eyebrows, struggling to remember what it was that Hailie had just said. "Hey! You're /not/ pushing me in a pool." That was all he said, however - knowing that it wouldn't be the first time, and that she would have her way no matter what he said... particularly when it came to tormenting him.
Besides, he was sure Heidi would have no objections. After all, she was friends with Hailie, if that told you anything.

"Ohmygee, me too because like my Mum can talk and listen but she never lets me talk fast 'cause then everyone gets confused and Dad will like ground me and Dad can't do either, basically. And Wyatt can listen but not talk and Shiloh can talk but not listen. Shiloh is kinda shy until she gets to know someone, you know?"
"Ohmygosh, that would be so fun! Pushing people in the pool is awesome and I love bubbles and the pizza will be here soon, and I have a bathing suit you can borrow. Come see and choose." She nearly dragged her friend by the hand into the living room. "Michael, you can come in too if you like," Heidi called, and bounded up the stairs.

"Oh my gosh. Michael just listens but never talks and my dad's all, 'You have to slow down', because he like, doesn't understand anything I'm saying, and he talks really slowly. And then my mom's like, 'Yadda yadda yadda' and talking quickly all the time but she can only understand what she's saying fast. So then I have to slow down for everybody except for you and Michael," Hailie told her, nodding and taking several deep breaths - talking like that was most definitely not easy for anyone with working lungs.
She nodded several times in agreement, allowing herself to be dragged into the house, and gesturing with her hand for her brother to follow her as well. "Come /on/, Michael!" She watched as he grudgingly agreed, and then turned to face Heidi once again - or, rather, the back of Heidi's head, seeing as she was being pulled along.
"Well, pushing people into pools /is/ fun, but then Michael gets all bad and ugh, so I think we have to find someone else to push into the pool. Is there anyone around here that likes water?" she asked, beaming.

"Oh. my. gosh. Dads can't, like, do either of mine. They're always like 'Slow down Heidi, I'm getting a headache' and so I'm like 'Deal with it' and I like always get grounded. How unfair is that?" Heidi babbled as she bounded up the stairs, Hailie in tow. "So I have four bathing suits for you to choose from but I'm wearing this one."
She held up her favourite swim suit, a polka-dot halter with pink bottoms. "So get ready fast cause I'm going to be ready."
Heidi paused for a moment. "Does Michael have one? Because he could use Wyatt's, probably. I don't think Wyatt would mind. Everyone in my family likes it that you're my BFF and so do I cause you're MY BFF and all, you know."
