The wind blew her hair softly against her face as Destiny Halliwell gazed off into the horizon. The information she had gathered in the library had helped slightly, but there were still bits and pieces that didn't make any sense to her.
Was there a possibility that someone had tried to re-write history so that any student, like her, couldn't find the answers to what happened years ago? And if so, who was this person? Why had they done it? What were they trying to protect?
These thoughts began to swirl around in her head as she tried to put them to reason. Something was missing, something vital to her research. With an exasperated sigh, she realized that the only way of figuring this out was to go into the Restricted Section, or to check the other top wizarding schools.

Life at the castle was dull. Classes, then homework, then more classes the next day. Seeing as none of her friends were around for Hailie to start yammering at, she had started off outside, for once her legs tired of skipping, making it so that she was instead walking, at her own steady pace, outside. Perhaps it was because she'd been cut off from communication with anyone that she'd consider 'interesting' for a short while, but Hailie was, undoubtedly... quieter than usual.
She herself had no idea why, and knew that by the time she found one of her friends again, she would once again have all her energy back and be running around again. Typical for the Pucey girl, was it not? It was then that she spotted none other than... well, it was someone that she knew she had met somewhere... somewhere dull. The library? Yes, that was it. And the girl had a fairly nice-sounding name. Faith? Truth? Destiny! Yes, that was it. Her name was Destiny, with some last name or other, seeing as if Hailie couldn't remember first names, a surname was very tedious.
"Hello!" she greeted, coming up beside the girl with a bright smile. Hailie had not an inkling of what she was smiling about - she never did need a reason to smile however, and this was not an exception.

The sound of a familiar voice reached her ear. As she turned, Destiny smiled back at Hailie, seeing that the girl was still as spunky, cheerful and spontaneous as she had anticipated.
"Hello Hailie," she replied kindly. "What brings you here?"
Since their meeting in the library, Destiny had not seen the girl again. It was a pleasure to know her, or at least, it was so far.

"Ooh, I don't know!" Hailie responded, that honestly being the first thing that came to mind. "Actually, it was really boring inside and everything so I was all like, 'Oh, going outside would be fun', but since none of my friends were around no one could come with me and then I got tired of skipping so I was walking and so I walked here." She nodded, beaming still. "So here I am!" she ended off, as an afterthought... Hailie was hardly ever one to remember things right off the bat.
"But how are you, why are you here?" she asked. Oh yes. Hailie was one of the only people that existed on the face of the earth that could properly link together as many sentences or questions as she wished. She grinned broadly once more, staring out at the lake as well before re-casting her gaze to Destiny's direction.

Glancing back at the open waters, Destiny considered her words. How exactly was she supposed to tell Hailie why she was here, without actually seeming like she was longing for something?
"I'm just thinking," she whispered, watching the calm winds ripple the waters of the lake. "There's so much information out there that I can't find, and I know something is up. I just can't put my finger on it."
"I was kind of hoping that the fresh air would clear my head," Destiny said, smiling slightly.

Hailie blinked once... twice... three times before answering. "But like, have you looked in the Restricted Section of the library? I mean, like, a lot of teachers would be willing to give you permission, like the Charms teacher is kind of oblivious to a lot of stuff and she doesn't follow the Death Eaters or anything..." She nodded several times, once making sure that her statements - or rather, very long, run on single statement - had made sense.
I was kind of hoping that the fresh air would clear my head. That certainly made sense to Hailie. After all, there was nothing better than a bit of time on your own outside to help someone, right? Oh, snap. On her own? Had she wanted time to think? Hailie was quite good at ruining touching moments without realizing it, mind you, and while she tried not to any attempts of this were quite... futile, if you will.
"Well, being outside always helps me," she told her, quickly getting over these comments. After all, anytime most people wanted her to leave they would just... say so, quite bluntly. There weren't very many people, discluding her brother, that would allow her to stay there if she'd come out of... nowhere.

Her mind was deep in concentration as she tried to digest Hailie's words. There was that slight possibility that she would be able to get into the Restricted Section, the only problem that stood in her way was searching for the right book.
That, and finding the right teacher to get a note from. True, Hailie's suggestion of the Charm's teacher was accurate, but there had to be a better way. Destiny hated tricking teachers.
"That's always a possibility. Thank you Hailie," she smiled.

"You're welcome!" Hailie told her brightly, nodding several times as if persuading herself. Of course, it wasn't she that needed persuasion. Destiny seemed to be more likely to follow rules than she was - of course, everyone somehow broke a rule sometime or another, but Hailie tended to just... forget what she was doing and end up there. Back in detention.
Oh dear. The girl truly was hopeless, wasn't she? Not Destiny - oh no, certainly not, Destiny seemed she was well on her way to places. However, Hailie, she herself had to admit, was a different story... She grinned nonetheless however, staring out at the lake. Oh, the lake. The pretty waters of the lake.

Destiny watched Hailie for a moment as she stared out at the water, trying to figure the girl out. She seemed like a sweet girl, and as far as Destiny could tell, she was.
"What do you see?" she asked her quietly.

"I see rainbow colours," Hailie told her in an... overly-bright tone, giggling softly to herself (although attempting yet failing to stop) and nodding. "Well - no. I don't. But, I like rainbow colours so they're always in my imagination." She had a feeling that most people would say that there was something wrong with her. Then again, there probably was. She just didn't know it, of course.
"I see water. And shapes in the clouds - like that one right there looks like a flower," she added, pointing out a particularly fluffy white cloud just overhead.

She was interested to hear what Hailie say, knowing that this was her way of thinking. One of her other hobbies, though it sounded very strange, was seeing what made people think, and how they did. It was just another thing passed down from Father to daughter.
"Anything else? Any emotions or other things?"

"Emotions..." Hailie seemed almost to question it - very rarely could she ever think of something deep, as depth and feeling was her brother's end of the spectrum, or at the very least that had always been how it was. She'd always been moreso the one to be generally happy, the one who had a ton of time and friends, along with things that happened in her life, and then... Michael was the type of person to think about things, always have these thoughts in his head that he never voiced.
"I guess... I don't know..." Hm... emotions? Hailie couldn't exactly call herself a very 'sensitive' person, and she had to admit no one else could either. Well, yes, she'd understand something if a friend told her about it, and she'd be sympathetic - however, raw emotion was something Miss Pucey had yet to figure out.

When there was no response, Destiny began to consider what the girl could possibly be thinking. There was no true answer to give, as it had to reflect the emotions and personality of the person repeating it, but something in her said differently.
Emotions were precious, something that could very easily be manipulated by another, or torn apart. There was no description for this, nor would there every be.

Hailie frowned, unsure of how to respond to this. "I don't... really know..." The lake, to Hailie, had always seemed moreso just a /place/. Just a massive body of water where she would go, meet people at... After all, who hadn't heard of the lake? There were always people around it, year round; taking a walk, or skating in the winter, swimming, sitting in the shade nearby... but really, Hailie never saw it as anything worth attention.
Yes, it was pretty, and water-filled... However, as much as she loved the lake, what was there to say about it? How /did/ it make her feel? Pfft. This was probably the most thought she'd ever given it...

"How much have I confused you now?" she finally asked with a grin.
There was nothing more impressive to Destiny then the way the human mind worked. It was easily tampered with, confused or perhaps even manipulated to feel the thoughts of others. She was always amazed at how easy it was, just to change someone's opinion with fct or fiction, and how hard it was to tell one from the other.
